Create a beautiful marble effect on your pottery to add some spice to your work.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small bowl
  • Paint
  • Straw
  • Soap
  • Water
  • Pottery piece

How to Create a Marbling Effect on Pottery

  1. Step 1

In a small bowl, mix together your chosen color of paint with a tiny bit of soap and a small amount of water.

  2. Step 2

After you start to see some bubbles forming in your mixture, blow into it with a straw so that it bubbles up. Think about when you were a kid and would blow bubbles into your drink through your straw before your parents yelled at you. That's what you're looking for. Let the bubbles go all the way to the top of your bowl.

  3. Step 3

Press your piece of pottery onto the bubbles, and they will leave a nice pattern.

  4. Step 4

Blow more bubbles and repeat until you have the desired effect.

  5. Step 5

Pop with your finger any bubbles that are left on the pottery.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use different colors for different effects.
  • Don't suck the paint through the straw. Just blow.
