    Things You'll Need

    • Sewing machine
    • Fabric
    • Needle
    • Thread
    • Thimble
      • 1

Load both the thread sources of your sewing machine. A machine uses two thread sources. "Left, down, up, down, through" is the general pattern for threading sewing machines, but individual sewing machines vary according to their maker. Make sure that yours have both thread sources in matching thread. The machine should be fully loaded before you begin.

Turn the fabrics that you intend to use inside out. For a stitch to be inside two pairs of fabrics, like on the sides of jeans, you need to have them stitched inside out. When you turn them right side out again, their stitch will have them fitted together, and the stitch will be invisible between the two.

Make sure that the ends are lined up carefully together.

      • 4

Start the machine and start sewing.

      • 5

Hold the fabric in place as you go, making sure it stays in line. You want to stitch evenly across both fabrics. If you let it go sideways, you can end up with a crooked outfit.

      • 6

Stop evenly once you get to the end of the two fabrics. Make sure the thread is securely tightened upon the ends of the stitch. You don't want the thread to have a chance at coming loose.

      • 7

Turn your fabric right side out and you should see a perfectly hidden stitch.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Hold the fabric for the entire time of the stitching. If it comes even a centimeter out of place, it could ruin the project.

    • Concentrate when sewing. Losing concentration is what causes most mistakes and mishaps in sewing projects.

    • Don't do any other multitasking while sewing aside from what's needed for the project at hand.

    • Be careful when dealing with the machine or needle. Take all precautions possible.

    • Never let a child use a sewing machine. If an older child needs to learn, be sure to supervise carefully.
