Casper the Friendly Ghost has been a lovable figure to children since he was created in the late '30s. The adorable ghostly figure enjoyed a revival in the 1995 film with his namesake. No matter which Casper is your favorite, the costume will be the same! Here is how to create a great Casper costume for Halloween or any costume party!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • White sheet
  • White wig or temporary white hair paint
  • Scissors
  • White shoes
  • White clothes
  • Non-toxic white powder face makeup
  • Black eye makeup
  1. Step 1

Put a large white sheet around the person who is to wear the Casper costume. Be sure to get an inexpensive white sheet at a discount store because it will certainly no longer be usable as anything but your costume.

  2. Step 2

Make sure the bottom of the sheet is short enough so that the person will not trip, yet long enough to conceal any clothing underneath. If there is any excess length that will cause tripping, it should be cut off.

  3. Step 3

Draw a line around the area where the head should come through. Take the sheet off the person and cut the hole evenly for the head to come through the sheet. That completes the basic part of the costume.

  4. Step 4

Wear white clothing underneath your costume as well. White shoes are also recommended for full effect of costume.

  5. Step 5

Pull their hair back, using a white temporary spray hair paint, or put on a white wig. Choose what is easiest and most fun for your costume. Remember Casper is a boy, so boyish hair styling on girls is best.

  6. Step 6

Put a non-toxic white powder make-up all over the face and neck.

  7. Step 7

Put black eye make-up in a full circle around each eye. This creates the perfect Casper ghostly effect.

Tips & Warnings
  • Experiment with your costume creation a few days before your actual party, or before Halloween. You want to make sure it works for you!
  • Try different things with your hair for the costume. You are Casper, the Friendly Ghost. It should be upbeat, although ghoulish.
  • Make sure all make-up used is non-toxic.
  • Think ahead. Read all the labels on spray paints used for hair.
