Creating your own house plan design can be an exciting and fun project. Many people like to get creative in designing their own floor plans, but it's also important to be sure to consult a professional in your area in the construction field to be sure that your house plans are feasible. Nevertheless, here are some basic steps to take if you'd like to learn how to create your own unique house plans.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pencil
  • Paper
  • Home design computer program (optional)
  1. Step 1

Before you can get started on drawing your unique house plans, it would be wise to make a list of all the features you want included in your house. For example, if you want a minibar somewhere in your house, then that feature should be included on your list. In addition, decide how many floors or stories you would like it to be. Many people get carried away when designing their own floor plans, so it would be a good idea to have at least a few ideas written down so that you'll stick to them.

  2. Step 2

Use your pencil and paper or a computer-aided design program, draw the basic outline, choosing the size and shape of the floors and where you want the front door to be located.

  3. Step 3

Fill in where you'd like bedrooms to be placed, where you want the kitchen to be and how big you'd like your dining room; include any family or extra rooms that you desire. This is where you can get creative in the placement of closets, bedrooms and other unique features of the house that will give it an added touch of your personality.

  4. Step 4

Go over all of your house plans a final time, being careful to make sure that you have everything in order, and everything is how you want it to look. This is the time for any necessary revisions or additions to your house plans.

  5. Step 5

Take your house plans to a contractor or construction company to make sure that the plans can be constructed. After they are approved and the house is built, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you created your very own unique house plans.
