Here is an easy recipe for California Tacos.Savory and delicious are the words to describe these simple tacos. No hard (tortillas) shells in this recipe. You can't even compare these tacos with Taco Bell. This recipe comes from my mother, who worked all her life as a cook to support us. You will want to share this recipe with your family and friends.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Corn tortillas
  • Roast beef
  • Lettuce & tomatoes
  • Shredded cheese
  • Cooking Oil
  • Salsa
  • Avocado dip

    How to make California Tacos

  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 350F. Salt and pepper roast.Place roast beef in roasting pan.Add 1 cup of water and cover with foil.Roast for 2 hours depending on weight Last 1/2 hour remove foil to allow browning.Then shredd the roast beef and place in a bowl.

  2. Step 2

    Heat tortillas and put aside. This will make the corn tortilla easier to fold. Fill the tortilla with shedded roast beef.

  3. Step 3

    Pour 1/2 of a cup of cooking oil in a skillet, get it really hot. Place the taco in the hot skillet, and pick up with tongs. Remove the taco after cooking both sides. For soft tacos cook less time. Drain on paper towels.

  4. Step 4

    Fill with shredded lettuce, tomato and shredded cheese. Top with avocado dip and salsa.

Tips & Warnings
  • Tacos can be served with spanish rice and refried beans with melted cheese.
  • Tortillas must be heated in order to be able to fold, if cold, torillas will break.
  • Avocado dip can be bought or homemade.
  • Salsa can also be bought or homemade.
  • Make sure hot oil doesn't pop, for it can cause burns.
