How to Speak Emphatically in Public Speeches
Speaking emphatically is easy to do when you’re surrounded by close friends and discussing something you’re interested in or know about. Speaking in the same manner in front of a large group of strangers is entirely different. You may notice that your tone drops and that you use monotone level. This makes the audience less interested in your speaking and they may wonder why you’re there. Keep your audience interested and entertained by speaking emphatically and to do so, practice and choose a topic that interests you.

1
Drink water prior to your speech, during your speech and in the days leading up to your speech. This keeps your body hydrated and also relaxes the vocal muscles, which makes it easier to speak emphatically.
-
2
Stand up straight. Studies have shown that proper posture can help your diaphragm and keep your breathing normal. This will all help you speak properly during a speech.

3
Practice speaking positively by talking about things you like or are passionate about. By starting off with things you like, you can build up your vocal range and begin speaking emphatically about things you are unfamiliar with.
-
4
Motion with your hands as you speak, to show those around you that you are interested in the topic. Using even simple hand gestures can help you begin speaking more emphatically.
-
5
Pay attention to the times when you do speak emphatically and remember those moments when you’re in front of an audience. You’ll eventually be able to see a connection between the two times and bring them together.
