It is a matter of common knowledge that the wedding is the bride’s day, but it is nearly as important to the mother-of-the-bride. The mother wants to present herself in a manner that sets her apart from the other wedding guests, while at the same time complimenting her daughter’s appearance. This means that she has to find a stunning dress and a pair of shoes that are equally stunning.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first thing to consider when you are choosing shoes for the mother of the bride is what season the wedding is scheduled for. While strappy sandals and espadrilles are a wonderful selection for a summer wedding, they will look out of place if you wear them for a winter wedding. For winter weddings, pumps and dress style boots are a wonderful selection. If the wedding is planned for the spring or fall you can get away wearing any style of dress shoe.

  2. Step 2

The next thing you need to consider when you are choosing a pair of shoes for your daughter's wedding is what type of outfit you are wearing. If the dress you are wearing has a long skirt you will probably need to wear a pair of shoes that have a taller heel. If you are wearing a pair of pants or a shorter skirt, you can usually get away with wearing a pair of flats or even a pair of shoes that have a kitten heel.

  3. Step 3

The next thing you have to consider is your body type. If you want to make yourself look taller and slimmer you might want to consider purchasing a pair of shoes that have sharply pointed toes and slender heels. If you are a tall mother-of-the-bride and want to look a little smaller, you should consider wearing a pair of shoes that are either flat or have a chunky heel.

  4. Step 4

Once you have settled on a style of shoe you want to wear to your daughter's wedding, you will need to choose a color. The general rule of thumb is that the color of your shoes should match your skirts hemline. If you are unable to find a pair of shoes to match your skirt in color, you will want to look for shoes that a neutral colors, like black, brown, nude, or beige.
