How to Change the Batteries in a Leapster LMax

The Leapster LMax is a great game for kids, especially on long trips in the car. Keep batteries on hand to ensure hours of fun for your child and peace for you.

Things You'll Need:

  • Flat-Head Screwdriver
  • Leapster Lmax
  • 4 "Aa" Batteries

How to Change the Batteries in a Leapster LMax

Using a small flat-head screwdriver, turn the silver bolt on the back of the Leapster to the left until it pops up. This will release the battery compartment, giving you access to the batteries.

Once the bolt pops up, slide the battery compartment down. Do not pull up on it. It slides down and completely off of the Leapster LMax. Turn it over to reveal the batteries. The silver bolt will stay in place when you do this. It is not necessary to completely remove it.

Carefully remove the dead batteries that are in it. Make sure to dispose of them properly. At this time you can install the new "AA" batteries. Make sure when installing the new batteries that you line them properly according to the positive and negative side of the battery.

Once you have the new batteries in, turn the compartment back over and in the same manner as removing, slide the compartment from the bottom back onto the Leapster LMax. The compartment cannot be forced on from the top.

Using your screwdriver, turn the silver bolt to the right until it clicks back into place. Turn over the Leapster LMax and power it on to verify that the new batteries are working properly. You can now return it to your child.

Tip

Battery replacement in a Leapster LMax should be done by an adult or an older child who knows how.
