You will learn, by reading this article, how to properly participate in the improvisational game known as "Tag Team Monologue."

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2-4+ Improvisational actors
  • Several slips of paper
  • Pen
  • Cloth Bag
  • Audience (optional)

    Prior to Performing

  1. Step 1

Assemble your group of actors. You need at least two but there is no limit to how many can participate.

  2. Step 2

Using your pen and pieces of paper write down several locations complete with a character (just one), occupation and any other conditions you can think of. Example: A stuttering janitor on vacation at the Vatican during a rainstorm.

  3. Step 3

Place the ideas into the cloth bag.

  4. The Performance

  5. Step 1

The performer that was chosen to go first draws a slip from the bag and steps forward.

  6. Step 2

The performer begins to utilize all parts of the slip of paper, acting out as best he or she can.

  7. Step 3

Another actor, at any time during the monologue, may step up and tap the current actor on the shoulder.

  8. Step 4

The new actor takes over where the last actor left off.

  9. Step 5

The monologue continues in this fashion until a conclusion is reached.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using an audience allows a lot more randomness to the exercise. They can choose the character, situation etc.
  • Tag team monologue can either be funny or serious - it's your call.
  • Remember that each actor in the exercise is a continuation of the precedingone. This means that the character, situation and any other stipulations apply to the actor tagging in to continue the monologue.
