Turn off the screen to allow it to cool and enable you to see the dirty areas easier. While you are waiting for the screen to cool for a moment, mix the vinegar and water in equal parts and remember that you will not need much to do the job. Any excess can be saved for another cleaning.

Pour the solution on the cloth and wipe the screen until clean. Do not apply too much pressure.

  3. Step 3

Repeat the cleaning until the areas are clean, rather than trying to scrub it clean.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a fine cloth such as one you would use to clean eyeglasses. This will prevent scratches to your monitor.
  • Store-bought solutions for cleaning LCDs will work, too.
  • Never apply pressure to the monitor as this can cause damage to the screen and create dispixlelation.
  • Never spray anything directly on the screen as the chemicals can react with the LCD screen components and create a yellowing of the screen, and possibly leak inside the monitor.

on 7/27/2008 Thank you so much! I just discovered that my two year old drew all over her grandparents monitor--in pencil thank goodness--and thanks to your excellent tips I was able to clean it off, no harm done. You're a lifesaver!
