Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Phone
  • Internet access
  • Counselor's number & address
  1. Step 1

Know that some organizations offer counseling services for free for the first few visits. This allows the employee to find a counselor that they like and allows the counselor to perform an assessment. Check with your human resource department to see the criteria on marital or divorce counseling.

  2. Step 2

Be aware that counselors can be found online through the Family and Marriage Counseling website directory (see link in Resources below). Just click on your state to find a qualified counselor in your area to make your appointment so you can begin the healing process.

  3. Step 3

Consider that friends are needed more than ever during this difficult, challenging trial. If you know someone that has been to divorce counseling, then perhaps they can recommend a counselor. Be sure to understand why they like that specific counselor. Divorce is very hard on people so you need to find someone that will you feel can help you.

  4. Step 4

Know that online and phone counseling are two new methods of divorce counseling. In order to find a phone counselor in your area you can visit the Family and Marriage Counseling website directory (see link in Resources below).
