Things You'll Need:
- Mirror
- Heavy bag
- Gloves (boxing, mixed martial arts, or heavy bag)
-
Step 1
Assume your traditional stance in front of a mirror. If you are a left-handed fighter, then you should lead with your right hand. Your left foot should be your behind your right..
-
Step 2
While it isn't necessary for you to throw a right jab before you deliver a straight left, the jab will effectively set-up your straight left.
-
Step 3
Keep your stance wide. Pacquiao is a power puncher who relies heavily upon a wide base from which to throw his combinations.
-
Step 4
Much of Pacquiao's momentum is gathered from his legs. You should rotate much of your weight from the heel to the ball of your left foot. As you transfer your weight, rotate your hips toward the right side of your body. You should feel a strong twist in your torso.
-
Step 5
Fire your left hand toward the chin of your intended target. Your palm should rotate about 90 degrees. Make sure it faces the ground just before impact.
-
Step 6
As always, punch through your target. If your straight left is ideal, it will connect with the chin of your opponent and finish two-to-three inches past his face.
-
Step 7
Quickly recoil your left arm and assume your traditional left-handed stance.
