If you want to do jazz dancing you need to be comfortable enough to move but also have something form fitting enough to be able to see your body lines. Selecting proper attire may seem tricky but really it is quite simple.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Comfortable pants
  • Jazz shoes or split sole sneakers
  • Form fitting top
  1. Step 1

You can wear shorts or pants but most people wear pants. The pants you select should be a mix of cotton, lycra and/or spandex. You want pants that are comfortable and have some stretch to them but that also hug your curves so you and your instructor can see your body lines and ensure you are doing the movements correctly.

  2. Step 2

Next you'll need a form fitting top. Loose tops will make your body disappear and we need to see your body. Again, the top should be a cotton, lycra, spandex mix. Sleeveless tops are best because you will work up a sweat. A sports bra is also recommended.

  3. Step 3

Invest in a good pair of jazz shoes. These run from thirty to sixty dollars and are available online as well as in dance supply stores. You'll want a pair that has split soles as this will make pointing your foot much easier. If you don't want to invest in a pair of jazz shoes then a pair of sneakers will work just fine. Again split sole sneakers will be much more comfortable and easier to move in.

  4. Step 4

Lastly, you'll want to pull your hair back out of your face. If you have bangs you may want to wear a headband or pin them back as they will hit you in the eye as you turn and that could become a nuisance.
