How to Lace a Shoe

Read on to learn how to lace a shoe using the standard criss-cross method.

Instructions

      Face the toe of the shoe away from you so it's facing the same way you would put the shoe on your foot). Start at the first set of holes nearest your toe. Place the shoe lace through both holes from the inside of the shoe. Pull through and make sure that the lace is even on boh sides.

      Work diagonally through each set of holes, placing the right side of the lace into the hole on the left side of the shoe and the left side of the lace in the right side of the shoe. Each time, continue making sure that the laces are even on both sides.

      Repeat step 2 until you reach the end of the shoe.

      Make a bow at the end.

Tips & Warnings

  • There are more ways to lace a shoe than just a criss cross method. The straight method follows the same steps as above, except that rather than moving diagnolly, you move straight across the holes.

  • It's fairly easy to lace a shoe, but be careful with children, as the lace is a potential choking hazard.
