Mexican cuisine is known for its rich and spicy dishes that satisfy the taste buds, but it is also known for being high in calories and packed with fat making it somewhat of a guilty pleasure. However, with a little compromise your favorite Mexican dishes can be almost as healthy as they are tasty.

  1. Step 1

    Preparation is key in making Mexican food healthier. You need to have fresh ingredients and plenty of spices on hand to add flavor without adding extra fat and preservatives.

    Stick with the corn tortillas called for in many traditional Mexican recipes, or trade flour tortillas for wheat which have healthy omega-3.
