Steamed broccoli is one of the healthiest side dishes you can make. Whether your serving your family, friends or just yourself, learn how to make this tasty and healthy treat in just minutes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Fill a small or medium pot with 2 cups of water.

  2. Step 2

Place the pot on the stove on medium heat. Place an open vegetable steamer in the pot. Vegetable steamers can usually be purchased at just about any grocery store. For fancier ones, visit specialty stores like Crate and Barrel.

  3. Step 3

While the water is heating, prep the broccoli. Using a knife, cut the heads from the broccoli, leaving about 2 inches of stalk attached to each head you cut off. You will steam only these heads.

  4. Step 4

Gather the broccoli heads and place them in the pot, on top of the vegetable steamer. Cover the pot and allow the broccoli to steam for approximately 6 to 8 minutes, depending on the number of heads to be steamed.

  5. Step 5

Remove the pot from the stove, drain and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add slices of cheese on top of the steamed broccoli for extra pizazz.
  • Do not overcook, or the broccoli may become too mushy.
