Things You'll Need:
- A Sturdy Ladder, Garden Hose, Rubber Gloves, Two Pails, Ammonia, White Vinegar, Rubbing Alcohol, 2 Cleaning Rags, Squeegee, Rope
-
Step 1
Fill both pails with hot water. In one bucket, add one cup of ammonia and one cup of vinegar. Add two tablespoons of rubbing alcohol and stir. Place one cleaning rag into each bucket. The other bucket should only contain hot water and one cleaning rag.
-
Step 2
Open the ladder and place it on a firm level surface. If the ladder is wobbling, it’s most likely due to an un-level surface. Move it to a flat area. Thoroughly inspect the ladder’s hinges and rungs for loose screws. If you find any loose screws or bent hinges, which may effect the safety of the ladder, do not use it. If the ladder is safe, engage the ladder locks or ladder braces before you climb.
-
Step 3
Use the rope to tie the squeegee to the top of the ladder. This will prevent the squeegee from falling to the ground if you drop it.
-
Step 4
Use your garden hose to wet the windows. The hose will remove excess dirt. Do not wait for the windows to dry, instead begin washing windows immediately.
-
Step 5
Put gloves on and carefully carry the bucket containing water, ammonia, vinegar, alcohol and cleaning rag up the ladder. Use one hand to brace yourself on the ladder, the other to clean the window. Once you’ve finished cleaning the window, climb down with your bucket of cleaning solutions and switch buckets. Do not wait for the window to dry.
-
Step 6
Carry the bucket that contains plain water up the ladder. Re-wash window with plain water. Grab the squeegee tied to the ladder and squeegee the water off of the windows.
-
Step 7
Repeat this process for each window.
