You can’t teach old dog new tricks. You can, however, get rid of his fleas and ticks. Fleas are highly adaptable bugs that produce about 60 eggs per day. Any pet owner needs to get a handle on the best way to combat fleas. Flea repellent can come in many shapes and forms. Here are some of the best ways to buy flea repellent.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine the type of repellent desired for the pet. Repellents may come in granular form or spray. There are also a host of all natural remedies that may be created to treat fleas. The pet owner will have to decide the most comfortable to treat the pet.

  2. Step 2

Buy all natural remedies from the local grocery store. Items like garlic, rosemary and eucalyptus are all known remedies that can eliminate fleas in pets.

  3. Step 3

Purchase flea repellent for the lawn at the local home and garden store. Most of a pet contact with fleas will be in the lawn outdoors. One way to keep down the pet’s exposure to fleas is to diminish the level of contact. Applying flea repellent to the lawn will guard the pet from a flea outbreak.

  4. Step 4

Keep the pet’s living area clean by vacuuming pet pillows as well as carpet areas in the home. This will limit the amount of flea repellent that is needed.

  5. Step 5

Use flea repellent shampoo to regularly bathe the patient. Even all natural flea repellent may be toxic to some pets. Eliminating the need to buy flea repellent as often will provide a healthier environment for the pet.
