Things You'll Need:
- Educational Toys that teach the ABC's
- ABC books
- Foam ABC letters for the bathtub
-
Step 1
Begin by showing your toddler their new toys and letting them explore. Toys that sing or speak the alphabet are especially helpful.
-
Step 2
Demonstrate the ABC's regularly as you go about your day. Use magnetic letter toys, foam alphabet tub toys, and books to show your toddler the alphabet. Match the letters up with ideas that they will understand. Say "B is for Brian!" as they go about their day.
-
Step 3
Make learning fun. Sing songs, read books, and play with toys that teach your toddler about the alphabet. Encourage them to repeat the letters after you in order, enthusiastically cheering with each letter they speak correctly.
-
Step 4
Most importantly, encourage a learning environment in your home. Pay attention to what your toddler is saying and singing and you may catch them humming the alphabet song to themselves.
