Autoimmune disorders are conditions in which the body literally fights itself and causes disease. You can help treat autoimmune disorders through diet. Here's how to get started.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Avoid wheat products. Many people even like to avoid gluten, a wheat byproduct. Check labels carefully. Wheat and gluten are in many products and come under many names.

  2. Step 2

Eat whole grains such as quinoa, buckwheat, brown rice and millet.

  3. Step 3

Step up your intake of fruits and vegetables. Plan your main meals around vegetables. Eat about 80 percent vegetables, fruits and grains, and 20 percent protein.

  4. Step 4

Eat healthy fats. Use olive oil, avocado oil or coconut oil for cooking. Avoid fried foods.

  5. Step 5

Eat fish. Fish contains omega 3s and if eaten at least once a week can improve your overall health.

  6. Step 6

Drink plenty of water. Many people are dehydrated and don't even know it. A good rule of thumb is to drink as many ounces as you carry in body weight a day. Water is especially important in the morning and helps eliminate toxins.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add a squeeze of lemon to your morning glass of water. This will help cleanse the body for a fresh start each day.
