For those that are looking to keep up their good health, the answer is as simple as eating the right vegetables. You want to make sure that you keep your diet straight and help yourself to stay young and healthy. This comes in doses of green. If you are looking to reduce your risk of stroke, monitoring your intake of vegetables is where to start for a longer and healthier life.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vegetables
  • Pen and paper
  1. Step 1

Monitor what you currently eat. The first place to start with helping your health and reducing your risk for stroke is to see what you are doing correctly and what you are doing wrong. Start by keeping a list of the vegetables you eat every day. Do this for at least a week.

  2. Step 2

Analyze what you are eating. It is recommended that, in order to effectively reduce the risk of stroke, you should have five servings of vegetables per day. You will want to see how many vegetables you are eating and will need to analyze how many servings are missing.

  3. Step 3

Start adding in the additional greens. After you have started to see what you have and what you are missing, you can start to add in additional green vegetables. You will especially want to add in the leafy greens, as these carry the largest amount of nutrients you need to reduce stroke, such as fibers, antioxidants and potassium.

  4. Step 4

Monitor your new eating habits. As you go along, check to see how many greens you are eating and how frequently you are adding them into your diet. From here, you can determine whether you need to increase or decrease your intake of vegetables and will be able to see whether you are improving with ways to help you to stop stroke from happening. Do this for at least a month so you can form the habit of eating right.

Tips & Warnings
  • Know what works. Stroke can not only be reduced from the right vegetables but also the right fruits. Citrus fruits and juices are just as effective in preventing stroke. Putting these in your diet along with the greens can continue to help you to stop stroke from occurring.
  • Add in the right vegetables. You will want to add broccoli, bok choy, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and leafy vegetables first, as these carry the highest amounts of nutrients.
