A pile hitch knot is one of the easiest and most useful knots one can use. The method in which it is tied makes it very strong, and therefore ideal for hobbies such as boating.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Rope
  • Pole or other sturdy structure
  1. Step 1

    Bend the rope to form a loop.

  2. Step 2

    Wrap both strands of the loop around the pole, near the pole's end.

  3. Step 3

    Pull the loop around the pole and under the rope.

  4. Step 4
     

    Finish by pulling the actual loop around the end of the pole.
