  2. Step 2

Go to your blog admin dashboard area. Access it by typing in the blog address followed by “/wp-admin”. For example, if your blog was located at “myblog.com,” then you would type “myblog.com/wp-admin” in the address bar to get to the dashboard.

  3. Step 3

Click on the “Write a New Post” button located on the first page of your dashboard. Alternatively, you could click on “Write” and then “Post.”

  4. Step 4

Type in the Title and the complete post text where indicated. Edit the post by adding pictures and links where they are helpful. You may format the blog text with features such as bullet points, quotes, and bold or italic text. Access those features from the toolbar located above the textbox titled “Post.”

  5. Step 5

Type in tags separated with commas, which are used as keywords to improve traffic. Check off the related categories or add new categories. Click on the “Publish” button to create a blog post immediately or click “Save” to save a draft to publish later. You can edit the post at any time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Update your blog more often (on a weekly, bi-weekly, or daily basis) for greater search engine optimization benefits. Blog posts are usually about 100-300 words at a minimum. Some bloggers write longer posts of 500-1,000+ words. The post length will depend on factors such as your preferences, your industry, and frequency of updates. Consider hiring a freelance writer or blogger to produce content and update your blog.
  • Publishing a blog post is publicly available information so use caution—do not post private, personal, or sensitive information. Maintain the appropriate tone and style for your business or professional image.
