While pork chops can be cooked plain or with direct seasoning, one of the best way to either fry or bake them is to add a coating mix. A coating mix will help season the chop and keep the pork chop moist and juicy. A simple coating mix can be made well ahead of time and stored until ready to use.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • For the Coating:
  • Stale bread
  • Herbs and spices
  • Blender or Food processor
  • To Use the Coating:
  • Pork chops
  • Eggs
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese (optional)
  • Coating Mix
  • Several shallow bowls

    Making the Coating

  1. Step 1

Break the bread into pieces that will fit either your blender or food processor.

  2. Step 2

Fill the blender or food processor half full with the bread pieces. Add a teaspoon of herbs or spices. Some good ones to try are Italian blend mixes or Fahita and Taco seasonings.

  3. Step 3

Pulse the machine until the bread is ground into small crumbs.

  4. Step 4

Store in an airtight container until ready to use.

  5. To Use the Mix

  6. Step 1

Scramble the eggs in a shallow bowl. Plan on one egg for every two pork chops.

  7. Step 2

Fill a second shallow bowl approximately one quarter full with the coating mix.

  8. Step 3

Dip the pork chop into the scrambled egg mixture and then into the coating mix. Cover the pork chop completely with the coating mix.

  9. Step 4

Fry or bake the coated chops until done.

  10. Step 5

Sprinkle the finished chop with Parmesan cheese before serving if desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • If stale bread isn’t available, lightly toast fresh bread for the same effect.
  • Use a meat thermometer to make sure that the chops are thoroughly cooked before serving.
