Things You'll Need:
- Music
- Dance room
-
Step 1
Take some hip hop abs classes from other instructors to get some ideas. Take note of different styles and what you, as a student, enjoyed most.
-
Step 2
Get in shape. You need to be fit to teach fitness classes because you are in essence training others how to get in shape. You don't need any certification to teach hip hop ab classes but you will need a place to teach these classes at such as a gym, dance studio or fitness club. You can apply to teach at any of these locations or rent a space to teach and market these classes on your own.
-
Step 3
Find appropriate music for the classes you will be teaching. For example, you probably won't want to play the most current music for a group of senior citizens. Also, if teaching a bunch of younger teenagers you might want to listen to your selections to make sure there isn't any profanity.
-
Step 4
Start the class with a light warm up to get the blood flowing and heart rate up. Do some cardio with quick moving and continuous hip hop steps.
-
Step 5
Do some strength training targeting the core muscles. Incorporate these movements as well as cardio dance movements into a routine. Teach it in segments, slowly adding sequences as you go. Practice each section several times before adding on.
-
Step 6
Do the routine all the way through a couple times. Encourage your students to let loose and have fun. Finish with a cool down stretch to bring the heart rate down and cool the muscles.
