When it comes to free food, don't just settle for the Chinese food samples in the mall food court. Go for free samples of new and upcoming products. Check out these steps on how to score free stuff from companies.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet access
  • Pen
  • Paper
  • Stamp
  • Envelope
  • Transportation method
  • Receipt from restaurant
Step1
First, check out Wal-mart's great resource for free samples. The link is listed below, and they often feature samples from notable merchants.
Step2
Sign up for your favorite restaurant's club, newsletter or email list. There's a great chance they'll email you offers for free appetizers, drinks or other treats a few times a year.
Step3
Whenever you receive a restaurant receipt, check the bottom or back. Many restaurants offer free food items for feedback. Call or fill them out online and enjoy free treats.
Step4
Sign up for a sample site such as Start Sampling (link below). They'll notify you of special sample offers or let you choose the ones you are interested in.
Step5
Check out the manufacturer's site directly. Often they will push new products, offering free samples and goodies to attentive retailers.
Step6
Write the company. Whether it's an email or a pen-and-paper letter, manufacturers will often send free samples or coupons for free products if you simply ask. Send a polite letter and see what happens.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be honest. Many people write scathing letters in search of free stuff, but writing nice letters will garner just as much attention.
