How to Have a Fire Sale in a Fantasy Baseball League
There may come a time during your fantasy baseball career when one of your teams just isn't getting the job done. At that point, you may no longer care about your season. You shouldn't just neglect your team, though. This is unfair to other owners. Instead, make your players available to the rest of the league. Here is how to have a fire sale in a fantasy baseball league.

1
Be sure that you're done with your fantasy baseball team before beginning any fire sale. Remember that once you unload all of your talent you cannot get the players back. Do the math and make sure that there is no real way you can make any comeback in your fantasy baseball league.
-
2
Contemplate how you want to go about having your fire sale. For example, you could offer your best players to the lower teams in your fantasy baseball league first as a way to make the league more exciting. You could also use a fire sale to help out a friend or to ensure that one of the top owners maintains his lead in the league.
-
3
Post a bulletin in your league announcing your intentions to get rid of your best players. Let the other owners know when you plan to have your fire sale and how you intend to do so. You want to make sure that all of the owners are aware of the oncoming fire sale.
-
4
Make it clear what you are hoping to receive for your players. For example, you could ask for multiple first round draft picks in next year's fantasy baseball draft. You could also ask for real money compensation for your best players. A fire sale, after all, must be profitable for the seller.
-
5
Leave reasonable time between when you post your bulletin and when you actually have your fire sale. If you don't, the fire sale will not be profitable for the other owners. A month between the fire sale and the end of your fantasy baseball season would leave enough times for other owners to benefit from receiving your best players.
-
6
After you've had your fire sale, pick up any available free agents and try to accumulate points. You can learn a lot about younger talent in Major League Baseball this way, thus helping you out in future fantasy baseball leagues. Also, this will ensure that other owners won't get a completely free pass when facing you in the remaining weeks of your fantasy baseball league.
