Many of you may wonder why there’s a need for a DVD to iPod converter. What’s the use of transferring these videos to iPod? You can already purchase thru iTunes right? But not all people understand the value of money. Yes, you can surf the net and spend online most of the time... but what if you don’t have internet connection when you need it? What if the movie you want or song you like isn’t available online? There’s a less expensive way to enjoy the benefits of watching videos on your iPod.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer Your computer should have Microsoft Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP with DVD-ROM drive.
  • DVD
  • Internet Connection

Now click the "Open" button and select either "Open DVD..." or "Open File..." (red). After selecting the folder of your choice, it will automatically load and fast forward itself to the main menu. When it gets to the menu, go ahead and set it up just as you were watching on your DVD player. Pick which audio stream (DD, DTS etc.), which language you want, and pick if you want the subtitles on or not. When you are ready, click "Play" or "Play Movie" on the menu screen.
Now as soon as the "Record It" button (red) turns red and becomes active, hit the "Pause" button (blue) to pause the movie. Now here is where we would change the settings to our liking. Such as the Output Size, Audio Quality, and Video Quality (green). The lower the quality, the smaller the file size and vise versa.

  3. Step 3

When your ready, just click the "Record It" button to begin. While its recording, the audio for the movie is turned off and your screen saver is disabled.

At the bottom of the DVD to iPod Screen it tells you alot of handy information (purple) such as:

    1. How much is recorded
    2. How much time has gone by
    3. How much time is remaining until its finished
    4. The proposed file size
    5. Where the file is on your hard drive

Tips & Warnings
  • Use the converter one movie at a time, to maximize faster conversion.
  • Check also the memory capacity of your iPod. You might get so addicted to convert one DVD to another, your iPod’s memory storage might not have the capacity anymore.
  • It’s not illegal for you to convert a DVD you purchased to you personal iPod. As long as it’s used for private viewing. It is illegal when you distribute this publicly, and when others pay for what you produce. That’s already video piracy. This is intended for fun and practical leisure only.
