How to Make Kielbasa over Rice

If you are looking for something unique to make for dinner than you have got to try kielbasa over rice. It's a quick and easy recipe that is sure to please your taste buds. It's great for those nights when you don't have time to slave over the stove for an hour. You can have this dish in front of you family in less than 15 minutes. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 package of polska kielbasa
  • 1 can of pineapple chunks
  • 1 package of boil 'n bag rice
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • Frying pan
  • Small pot
  • Spoon
  • Knife
  • Can Opener

Instructions

  1. Start Preparing

    • 1

      Get out a small pot and fill it 3/4 of the way with water. Set on the stove and turn the burner to high.

      Place your frying pan on the stove and turn the burner to medium.

      Open up your package of kielbasa and cut in to one inch slices. When you're finished, it should look like you have a bunch of round circles. Throw your kielbasa into the frying pan.

      Add your rice in a bag as soon as your water starts to boil. Leave the bag on the rice. Let the rice cook for 5 to 10 minutes.

      Flip the kielbasa as soon as it has browned on one side. Open the can of pineapples. Add pineapples and juice from the can to the kielbasa.

      Stir in brown sugar and cook until the rice is done.

      Drain your rice from the pot and put it in a small bowl.

      Spoon a pile of rice on to a serving dish and then scoop a pile of kielbasa and pineapples and pour over the top of the rice.

      Serve hot.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you defrost your kielbasa ahead of time. If you haven't, use the microwave. Defrosting your kielbasa in advance is essential if you want to have the meal done in 15 minutes.

  • If you don't brown at least one side of the kielbasa, it will lose some of the crispyness and will taste more soggy.

  • Keep stirring your kielbasa after you add the pineapples so nothing sticks to the bottom of the pan.
