  • Water
  • Mop
  • Neutral cleaner made specifically for natural sandstone tile
  1. Step 1

Dust mop your sandstone natural floor tile. Sandstone natural floor tiles are susceptible to scratching so they should always be kept free of dust and grit. Frequently dust mop your sandstone natural floor tiles but do not use any kind of spray treatment or cleaner on the dust mop. Use the dust mop lightly and do not grind the dirt across the floor.

  2. Step 2

Mop you natural sandstone floors with plain water for regular cleaning. Natural sandstone floor tiles are porous and you do not want to use any kind of cleaning product on it on a regular basis. Cleaning products can etch and stain natural sandstone floor tiles.

  3. Step 3

Clean your natural sandstone floors once every couple of months with a special neutral cleaner that is made specifically for natural sandstone. You can purchase special cleaners at your local flooring store or home center and they can be applied by mop. Make sure you follow the packaging instructions explicitly.

  4. Step 4

Take your shoes off at the door. Shoes bring in most of the dirt and grit that will do the most permanent damage to your natural sandstone tiles. Taking shoes off will help make your floors last longer.
