Blind dates can cause anxiety from these kinds of things: "What will my date look like?" "Is my date normal?" "Will I blow it." Before you go on another blind date, calm down and take a look at this how-to guide of how to act on a blind date.

How to Act on a Blind Date

  1. Step 1

Look at each blind date as an experience. Go into the date with a good attitude and be prepared for anything. This will come in handy if the date is not going how you want it to or your date is not the man or woman of your dreams.

  2. Step 2

Be polite and get to know your date. Ask questions about what your date does for a living, what he or she wants out of life, etc. Sometimes a good way to get out of that blind date awkwardness at the beginning of the date is to start out by asking if the person has been on any other blind dates, or why you both think your friends decided to set you up on a blind date. Keep the conversation going.

  3. Step 3

Guys--Pick up the tab. If your blind date happens to be the woman of your dreams, or at least someone you're interested in, make a good, chivalrous first impression and pay for the meal.

  4. Step 4

Compliment your date, especially if you're attracted to him or her. Don't overdo it. Compliments on a person's smile, eyes, or clothes can go a long way with a date.

  5. Step 5

Be a gentleman. Walk your date to her car. Impress her with your knowledge of wine pairings. Open the door for her.

  6. Step 6

If you're interested in your date, ask for her number for a second date. Ladies, if you're interested in your date and he's not asking you for your number, give hints that you'd like to see him again.
