Cashmere is a luxurious and fairly expensive fabric and if you love your sweaters, it’s worth sending them to the dry-cleaners to be laundered. But you can also treat certain cashmere stains at home. Just remember to resist the urge to spot clean the unsightly stain, blemishing your cashmere clothing. Instead, gently wash the entire garment.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gentle detergent
  1. Step 1

Hand wash the garment in lukewarm water with soap flakes or liquid soap. Take care not to rub or twist the garment as this may cause pilling.

  2. Step 2

After washing, rinse the garment in cool water until all the soap is removed, squeezing gently without wringing. Squeeze away excess water in a towel.

  3. Step 3

To dry, leave the garment to dry naturally away from direct heat and sunlight.

  4. Step 4

If you decide to machine wash the cashmere, always set the washer to gentle and wash cashmere in cool water. Only wash a few items at a time and use a gentle cleanser specifically for delicates, like Woolite.

  5. Step 5

When dry, iron lightly on a cool setting using a damp cloth or steam.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never spin or tumble dry damp cashmere clothing.
