The National Cancer Institute has repeatedly publicized studies that show healthy eating can greatly decrease your chances of getting cancer. Eating a diet that is low in fat, high in fiber and contains at least five servings of fruit and vegetables per day can be the key to a long and healthy life. In addition to a generally more healthy lifestyle, there has been a lot of research as to which specific vegetables are the best at preventing cancer.

Avocados are rich in antioxidants that attack free radicals in the body by blocking intestinal absorption of certain fats. They also supply more potassium than bananas and are a strong source of beta-carotene. Avocados are great for your liver, too!

Soy appears to lower cancer risks by inhibiting the growth of cells and new blood vessels that tumors require to expand. Women who have breast cancer or are at high risk should talk to their doctors before increasing their consumption of soy products.
