Things You'll Need:
- Vacuum cleaner
- Clean bedding
- Flea spray or powder that you can use inside on furniture and floors
- Flea spray, granuals or powders that you can outside
- Products like Frontline to put directly on your dog
-
Step 1
Begin by treating the home. Fleas can easily hide in your carpet and your pet's bedding, as well as your bedding. Those little fleas can jump right onto your legs, ankles and feet when you are unaware and travel throughout your house. Thoroughly vacuum all of your carpets. After you finish, begin treating the area with a pet-safe pesticide that will kill fleas. You will want something that is also safe for your floorings and furniture. For this reason, read all the paperwork that comes with it. Once you apply it, you and your little Rover should allow your home to air out some before you enter.
-
Step 2
Consider treating the outside of your home. This is important even if your little Rover is an inside dog. You and other family members can track those little fleas into the house on your legs and feet. You can buy many different types of formulas that can be used on your lawn that is made especially for killing fleas. These formulas may come in granules, sprays or powders. Again, read all the literature pertaining to the formulas and make sure they are pet friendly and pet safe.

Step 3
Treat your pet with a special treatment such as Frontline. Just place it behind the dog’s neck, where he can not reach. The formula soaks into the dog’s system and into his blood. Thus, every time a flea attempts to bite him it dies.

Step 4
Treat all other animals, (if treating cats be sure to use specifically marked products)
