Red wine is a wonderful refreshing drink when consumed. It is a nuisance when it's on then carpet. There are proper steps you can take while using your steam cleaner to remove this big red stain.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Club soda or seltzer water
  • Dry wash cloth
  • Steam cleaner
  1. Step 1

If the spill has just occurred, start with this step first; if it is an old stain, skip to Step 2. Take your wash cloth and place it over the red wine spill. Do not push down or smash the rag; this will make things worse. Squeeze the rag while pulling up on the carpet to adsorb the wine; this keeps the wine from soaking in. Repeat until most of the wetness is absorbed.

  2. Step 2

Take your seltzer water or club soda and pour it over the stain; let it set overnight until the carpet is dry.

  3. Step 3

Take your steamer and follow instructions on adding water and turning it on.

  4. Step 4

Press the steam wand right on the carpet and use a circular motion. If the carpet is badly stained, let it dry and then repeat Steps 2 to 4 until the stain is gone.
