How to Steam Clean Red Wine Stains From Carpet

Red wine is a wonderful refreshing drink when consumed. It is a nuisance when it's on then carpet. There are proper steps you can take while using your steam cleaner to remove this big red stain.

Things You'll Need

• Club soda or seltzer water
• Dry wash cloth
• Steam cleaner

Instructions

1. If the spill has just occurred, start with this step first; if it is an old stain, skip to Step 2. Take your wash cloth and place it over the red wine spill. Do not push down or smash the rag; this will make things worse. Squeeze the rag while pulling up on the carpet to adsorb the wine; this keeps the wine from soaking in. Repeat until most of the wetness is absorbed.

2. Take your seltzer water or club soda and pour it over the stain; let it set overnight until the carpet is dry.

3. Take your steamer and follow instructions on adding water and turning it on.

4. Press the steam wand right on the carpet and use a circular motion. If the carpet is badly stained, let it dry and then repeat Steps 2 to 4 until the stain is gone.

Tips & Warnings

• Whenever you're using a steamer, make sure children and or pets are not around you.

• Steamers let off very hot steam, so make sure you are familiar with the tool before using it.
