This is a quick how-to for when you want to make sure your compact discs are clean and work properly.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mild detergent-like dish soap
  • Warm water
  • Clean cloth to wet
  • Dry lint-free cloth
  1. Step 1

Start by getting a mild detergent like a dish soap, warm water and a clean cloth. Dip the cloth into the water and apply the dish soap to the cloth and work up a good lather. You don't want to use abrasive cleaners like Comet and even window and counter cleaners can damage to the polycarbonate surface on the CD.

  2. Step 2

Scrub the CD from the center out in a radial direction so as not to add more scratches to the CD. Unlike vinyl records if you're going to scratch the CD you want to be across that data on the disc and not parallel to it.

  3. Step 3

Once you've removed any dust, grease, or fingerprints, dry the CD with a lint-free cloth to ensure you don't add any dust or scratches to the surface of the CD. Just like before, rub in a radial direction from the center of the CD out. Now pop in The CD and you're ready to rock.
