Use a Liver Cleanse

When one thinks of people who have problems with their liver, or even liver disease, the thought that often comes to mind are alcoholics. Those that drink too much do put a strain on the liver. The liver can be hurt by excesses of many kinds, though. Cleansing the liver is of vital importance. Both liver and gall bladder hindrances have been shown to be an important factor in many diseases, namely cancer. Medical doctors have found that, in most cases of cancer, one's liver is in horrible condition when diagnosed. Purifying one's liver can add to the quality of your life, as well as your peace of mind and overall heath. Below, you will see detailed steps to cleansing your liver in a safe and efficient way so that you can be on your way to your best personal health.

Understand preparation is key. For a week prior to doing a cleanse of the liver, consume as much apple juice as possible, along with (and in between) your regular meal routine. Vitamins and minerals for your well-being are strongly encouraged during this pre-cleanse phase. As the week rolls down, drink a glass of apple juice every two hours, until you have at least a half gallon of apple juice in your system per day.

With all the care taken to prepare your body for this task, you are ready to set your cleanse in motion. When you wake up on the day chosen for your cleanse, eat both a breakfast and a lunch that is without fat. Some great suggestions for this are cereal, oatmeal, baked potatoes or vegetables. The reason for this: These foods help the bile to build up and put pressure upon the liver; the more pressure on the liver, the more stones can come out. Unless you want to fill or negate the point of the cleanse, do not eat after 2:00 p.m. That's the cut-off time so plan your day accordingly. Mix 4 tbsp. of Epsom salts into 3 cups of water. Pour it into a jar, or separate it into servings for storage. This recipe makes four servings, which should be dished out as 3/4 cup each. For best taste, refrigerate to get ice cold. If the taste isn't to your tolerance, the water can be substituted by apple or grapefruit juice that is very fresh.

Follow a schedule. At 6:00 p.m., using the prepared mixture, pour yourself 3/4 of a cup of the Epsom salt mixture. Drinking a bit of water afterwards to rinse the mouth is OK. Now, you should get the olive oil and grapefruit on hand. At 8:00 p.m., drink another serving down of Epsom salts. Still having not eaten since 2:00 p.m., you probably won't feel hungry. Your body is smart, and takes to cleansing more easily than is often anticipated. At 10:00 p.m., pour 1/2 cup carefully measured olive oil into a jar. Squeeze the grapefruit hard by hand into a side cup. Remove all the pulp, hoping for 3/4 cup of juice left over. Pour the fresh juice (must be freshly done for results) into the jar with the olive oil; shake it very hard until it is watery. Now, drink the potion you have mixed, even if you have to gulp it through a straw, or disconnect your mind from your body in thought. Whatever needs to be done to get it down within five minutes is recommended (allow more time for the elderly). It's important to drink ti standing up.

Immediately after drinking the mixture, go to sleep. That part is extremely important. You may fail in the cleanse if you do not. You may not get the needed stones to pass from your body if you do not. Drink the mixture, then lie down. Try to keep perfectly still for at least 20 minutes, then try to go to sleep. Lying flat with your head propped up on the pillow is the best sleeping position for the cleanse. The next morning take another dose of Epsom salts as soon as you wake up. If you are sick or have nausea when you wake up, wait until that has passed before taking the salts. After they are in your system, you can lie back down if desired. Two hours later, take your fourth (and last dose) of Epsom salts. You can go back to bed if you like, or stay awake. Take it easy on yourself during this time. After two more hours have passed, you can start eating again. It's recommended to start light. Try fresh fruit and juices at first, introduce more and more of your diet into your system.

Take an inventory of yourself. How did you feel before and after the cleanse? The cleanse can be repeated at two-week intervals as needed. Seeing the results of this cleanse can be physical, both in how you feel and results seen. Some choose to literally take a flash light to observe the stones passed during the cleanse. Due to the cholesterol inside of stones, they rise to the top while typical bowel movement sinks. Taking stock of ways to purify your body can make for a more sound body and greater peace of mind.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose a day during the weekend (or your day off) for the cleanse, as you will need to rest and relax.

  • If you can do without medication or vitamins that you usually take, please do so for the duration of the cleanse.

  • Discuss the idea and program with a health care professional.

  • Place a heating pad, hot water bottle, or even a disposable heating Pad like Thermacare. Placing this over the liver area during the night of the cleanse can help relieve nausea later on.

  • Nearly everybody feels better after completing the cleanse so don't let fear stop you.

  • If you have cavities that need to be filled or other dental problems, have those fixed before you start your cleanse. Having such burdens going into your system after a cleanse will needlessly strain the liver.

  • A kidney and parasite cleans program is often recommended to do prior to a liver cleanse.

  • Ask your doctor before doing any cleanse (or any alteration to your medical treatment or well-being.)
