Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Rollerblades
  • Comfortable clothes
  • Knee pads
  • Elbow pads
  • Helmet
  • Safe skating area
  1. Step 1

Once you have your rollerblades, knee pads, elbow pads, and helmet on, you are ready to go. As you skate, put your weight on the foot that is going to stay on the ground, then put the other foot behind you. It forms a balance. A great way to start this is to practice while standing still. Get a feel of the motion of bring the foot up while maintaining your balance. It will seem initially challenging, but gets much easier while you are in motion.

  2. Step 2

While rollerblading, push against the speed you are going, picking the one foot up like you did while standing still. As you lean your weight towards the foot that remain planted on the ground, you begin your glide.

  3. Step 3

Practice, practice, practice. Get into a safe environment, and practice as much as possible. It's a simple recipe. You push, pick the foot up, push your weight onto the foot that remains, and you are in the motion of a glide.

  4. Step 4

Continue practicing during your rollerblading and you will soon look as graceful as a figure skater when gliding on one rollerblade.
