Trying to work less and get paid more for your efforts? Want to spend more quality time with your family? Whether you have a job or your own business, you can follow these steps to work less and get paid more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • A positive attitude

Step1
Create a business or career strategy based on your background. You will increase your chances of success if you pursue a specialty for which you have skills, experience and passion.
Step2
Build your knowledge. Study the successful industry leaders and learn from them. Read up on the industry news and get training for your business or career.
Step3
Take action. It is not enough to create the ideal plan and study. To build a successful system or plan to work less and get paid more, you need to follow through on your strategy and take action to reach your goals.
Step4
Network. Sometimes it’s who you know that will get you in the door to a high-paying job or lucrative new area of business. Sign up for industry associations and clubs both online and locally. Meet other professionals at the events, exchange business cards and follow up.
Step5
Diversify your income. Instead of relying on one source of income, you can lower your risk and maximize your earnings by adding on more income streams. For example, instead of working for one employer, you may be able to moonlight as a freelance writer and take on multiple clients. At the same time, you could also make your own websites and blogs for more sources of income.
Step6
Always have a positive attitude. Keep yourself accountable instead of blaming others for your failures. If you’re feeling overworked and underpaid, you will need to keep a positive attitude to continue to move forward in the tough times. Many successful people have failed numerous times before they made it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose a career you love so it doesn't feel like work and improves your chances for success. Make it a point to continuously network and market yourself in both good and bad times so you’ll always have opportunities.
  • Use caution if a website or job offers you employment or riches, but requires you to pay them money first. Legit employers pay you, not the other way around. And there are many get-rich-quick schemes online, so be wary. Do some online research and talk to others before you consider a new opportunity.
