Need to tie a tie quickly? Here is a foolproof way to get a great knot in under 10 seconds. The knot shown here, a Windsor knot, is the go-to standard for business environments or any elegant situation.

From Quick Guide: All about Tying Ties
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Drape the tie over your shoulders. The skinnier end should be on your left and come down to about the second or third button below the collar button. The aim is to have the tie hit the top of your belt buckle when completed.

  2. Step 2

Cross the wide end of the tie over the narrow one and slip the wide end up and then between the tie and collar. Drop it back down to the front of the shirt. It should look like the wide end has been looped behind the skinny end and is now resting on the shirt.

  3. Step 3

The wide end now goes behind the skinny endand over the loop between collar and tie on the opposite side of the first loop

  4. Step 4

Wrap the wide end around the skinny end once more and slip up through the loop

  5. Step 5

Hold the knot loosely and slip the wide end through it

  6. Step 6

Tighten the knot by pulling on the skinny side and moving the knot up to the collar
