How to Uninstall Kazaa
This article will walk you through how to uninstall the commonly used freeware version of Kazaa. Kazaa is a file sharing program used to download music, software, and videos from other people over the Internet. This walkthrough will be based on the Microsoft Windows Vista system. There will be a second area dedicated to Windows XP operating system included as well.

To begin uninstalling the file sharing software program Kazaa, click on the "Start" button located in the lower left hand side of the desktop. Using Vista, navigate to the "All Programs" located on the start menu. Using XP, click on "Programs" in the "Start" menu. In both versions, navigate to the folder containing the Kazaa files and click on it once. This will open up the subfolders, one of which includes the "Uninstall" feature.

Now that you have found the "Uninstall" folder located under the Kazaa file name in your program list, click on the "Uninstall" folder. This launches the security feature in Vista that requires your permission to continue, so you will click continue. In both versions, the "Wise Installation Wizard" for Kazaa will begin to run. The first window to pop up asks you if you would like to remove the program, or to cancel. You will now click "Remove," as this is what will begin the uninstall process.

The next window appears and requests that you enter a message as to why you would like to uninstall Kazaa. There is a drop down menu with options available for your answer, or a blank area suited for leaving a personal message about the program. After you have entered this information, or decided to not leave information, please click "Uninstall."

A new window will pop up and this one wants to find out the uninstall method you would like to use. Your options are "Automatic," "Custom," or "Repair." Using "Custom" allows you to opt for which modifications to make during the uninstall. Opting for the "Automatic" option will allow it to continue using default presets. The "Repair" feature is used only if you are encountering problems with Kazaa working properly, and can be used now to repair it. Move to the "Automatic" button and click the bubble next to it. Now you may hit "Next" to move on in the uninstall process.

The next dialogue box appears with the message "You Are Now Ready to Remove The Kazaa From Your System." If you are unsure if you want to uninstall this program, you may hit the "Cancel" button on the bottom right of the box. If you are certain that you wish to uninstall Kazaa, you may hit "Finish" now. This begins the uninstall of your program. The box becomes animated, showing a file being transferred from one file folder to another. After the process is complete, which only takes about 15 seconds, the dialogue box disappears, and you have uninstalled Kazaa from your operating system.

This article addresses uninstalling Kazaa from both Windows XP and Vista. The only steps that are different is the first step on how to get to the file. The rest of the information is the same on both Operating Systems. If you decide at a later date to reinstall Kazaa or Shareazaa software, you will need to recreate the folder during installation. No additional alterations are needed. These steps were assuming you installed your software in the folder that was suggested during the installation process.
