How to Transform Your dollhouse into a faerie house

You can transform any dollhouse into a flower filled home for faerie dolls. All you need are some basic supplies to redecorate the walls and floors and make some simple faerie furniture. This project is fun and easy for kids to do with some adult help and supervision. If you don’t already have a dollhouse, you can use this same technique to transform the inside of a shoebox or cardboard box into a faerie house. Flowered wallpaper, green felt carpet, and floral chairs and beds will make faerie dolls feel right at home.

Things You'll Need

• Contact paper with flowers on it
• Ruler, scissors, marker and glue
• Green felt
• Paper cups with flowers on them
• Small pieces of colored felt
• Stuffing or sheets of facial tissue
• Fake flowers
• Hot glue (optional)

Instructions

Decorate the Walls

1. Empty all the furniture and dolls out of the dollhouse.

2. Measure one of the dollhouse walls from floor to ceiling and from front to back. Cut a piece of contact paper the size of the wall.

3. Measure any windows in the wall and mark their locations on the back of the contact paper. Cut openings in the contact paper for the windows, if needed.

4. Remove the adhesive backing from the contact paper.

5. Cover the wall with the contact paper. Smooth out any wrinkles using the edge of the ruler.

6. Repeat Steps 2-5 for each wall in the dollhouse.

Add Mossy Green Carpet

1. Measure the floor of one dollhouse room from front to back and side to side.

2. Cut a piece of green felt the size of the floor.

3. Glue the felt to the floor of the dollhouse room.

4. Remove some petals from the fake flowers. Glue the petals to the green felt carpet.

5. Repeat Steps 1-4 for each room in the dollhouse.

Make a Faerie Chair

1. Place a paper cup on a piece of green felt.

2. Trace around the bottom of the paper cup.

3. Cut out the circle of felt.

4. Cut off one side of the paper cup to make a chair.

5. Place the circle of felt in the bottom of the cup to make a cushion.

Make Faerie Beds

1. Cut 2 rectangles of colored felt big enough for your faerie doll to lie down on.

2. Glue 3 sides of the pieces of felt together, leaving the fourth side open. Let the glue dry.

3. Fill the felt with stuffing or sheets of facial tissue.

4. Glue the open edges of the felt together. Let the glue dry.

5. Cut a piece of colored felt the same size as the bed to make the blanket.

6. Remove some petals from the fake flowers. Glue the petals to the top of the blanket.

Tips & Warnings

• You can glue flowered scrapbook paper on the walls instead of using adhesive contact paper, or decorate plain paper with drawings or flower stickers.

• Dollar stores can be a good source of inexpensive artificial flowers. Pull large fake flowers off the stems and scatter them around the dollhouse. Use hot glue to attach fake flowers to the ceiling.

• Only adults should use hot glue.

• Supervise children using scissors.
