How to Make a Dessert Calzone

I came up with this recipe when I had a craving for sweets and not enough ingredients to make a proper dessert. It combines the comfort of a calzone with the sweetness of your favorite fruit for a quick and awesome dessert. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 15oz. can of peaches, half-drained
  • 1 pie crust, rolled out
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. water
  • 1 egg

Instructions

    • 1

Make the egg wash. Beat the egg and water together and set aside.

    • 2

      Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    • 3

Unroll out the pie crust. Roll it smoothly to avoid making cracks in the crust. You can purchase the pie crust already made at the supermarket.

    • 4

Mix peaches, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a bowl. Make sure you mix well so that all ingredients are combined.

    • 5

Pour peach mixture onto one half of the pie crust and fold the pie crust over, like a calzone. Seal the ends of the calzone with a fork for design and to make sure it's sealed.

    • 6

Rub the outside of the calzone with the egg wash to give it a golden color after cooking.

    • 7

Place in casserole dish and cook for approximately 30 minutes or until outside is golden brown.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add any kind of fruit you like and season accordingly.

  • Make your own crust if you have the time.

  • Any visible tears will cause the calzone to leak and the inside will just be hot fruit.
