When starting a new business, especially in direct sales, it is important to have your first party as the grand opening of your new business. Some say you should hold a grand opening within your first 10 days of getting your business kit..but it depends really on your own schedule. Step 1. Select a day and time that works best for you.

Step 2. Prepare a list of potential guests. Never prejudge while making your list and remember it never hurts to ask, and you may find that several of the people you don't think would be interested in the party are the first to RSVP!

It is recommended to invite 25 or more guests to your party and remember that many of your guests may not be able to attend even if they'd like to. If the guest cannot come, make sure to ask them if they would like to place an order or host their own party.

Step 3. Invitations/Reminding Guests
Personal invitation: It is important to have personal contact with each guest and it is helpful to call your guests as well as sending out invitations. A phone invite adds a personal touch. You also need to remember to send out reminder cards as well as calling your guests a day or two ahead of the party to share your excitement and confirm those who will be attending. Be sure to ask the attendees if they are bringing any guests. The more who attend, the more exposure for your new business!

Step 4. Refreshments and room arrangements. It is best to keep refreshments simple. Once you find out how many guests will be arriving, select comfortable seating for all guests. Clear a table for your products to set up all of your tools.

Step 5. HAVE FUN. Enjoy yourself and have fun. Experiencing beauty products, candles or whatever you are selling in your party plan business in a happy atmosphere will encourage your guests to become hostesses as well as consultants for you.

These were my tips as there are many ways to host a grand opening. There are also ways to host a party online, in which I have never done before.

on 7/31/2008 Great advice! Rather than planning the party around what works best for you - I might suggest to plan it around what works best for those who might want to attend. Women are typically your target market and by far, they have the busiest schedules. If you keep their lifestyles foremost in your mind, you will optimize your chances of having everyone attend.
