Cleaning smoke off of walls is a nasty job. Whether it's cigarette smoke, accumulated smoke from candles or smoke from a kitchen fire, the method is pretty much the same: combine smoke- and oil-cutting cleaners and some hard work.

on 6/25/2008 TSP is wonderful for the really bad jobs where you can see the tar build-up from cigarette smoke. But what about the contaminated air-ducts? Porous cabinets and walls? Those cracks in the base boards? Carpets? Once you’ve cleaned off the obvious, you will still need to eliminate the tar residue that you can’t see. This is where a product called Vamoose is very effective. You spray it on or into the areas that can’t be physically cleaned with TSP or other detergents. When Vamoose comes into contact with the tar residue, it immediately begins dissolving the tar without doing damage to the fabric, wood, paint, or hard surfaces. And don't think that painting over it will get rid of it...the smell will come back! Do yourself a favor and check it out! (www.vamooseproducts.com)
