How to Start A Business With No Money

There are ways to get a business started, even if you have no money in the bank.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start A Service Business: There are many services you can perform that require no (or very little) out-of-pocket expenses, such as a cleaning service, lawn mowing (if you own a lawn mower), handy man (provided you have tools), etc. Look for a skill that you have or equipment that you own to give you many ideas to start a service business.

  2. Step 2

Retail Business: To start a retail shop, think consignments. Allow others to provide you an inventory at no cost to you. For your rent, see my article titled 'Get A Retail Location With No Money Down' (link provided below).

  3. Step 3

Publications/Advertising Business: This is a great option to start a business with no money. This type of business allows you to sell (& collect) before the product is actually produced, giving you the funds you need to pay for the final publication. See my articles on 'savings sheet' and 'publish business directory' (links provided below) for two very easy projects that could make you thousands.

  4. Step 4

Partnerships: If the above ideas are not for you, consider a partner. By partnering with someone with the funds you need, you can get started without any of your own money. These situations are great for both parties, given you have a sound business idea.

  5. Step 5

Grants: There really are many legitimate grants for starting a business. Do a bit of research on available grants, especially those specific to the business you would like to start.
