How to Become More Romantic
Chances are that there has come a time when your significant other wishes that you were a bit more romantic. The truth of that matter is that not all of us are naturally in tune with romance in general. It's always important that we show the people we love just how much they mean to us and do so on a daily basis. Romance isn't necessarily something that has to take loads of work and money. It can be a combination of plenty of little things which you can do without breaking a sweat or the bank. Here is how to become more romantic.

1
Know all the basics and “clichés” that go along with being romantic. There's a reason that you always see flowers, candy and candlelit dinners in “romantic scenes” on TV shows and movies. Things like this are perfect for setting a romantic mood. If you're having trouble being romantic, keep it simple and let those who have come before you do the work. A small, clichéd romantic gesture can go a long way.

Make yourself aware of what your significant other considers to be “romantic.” Some people see a romantic meal as one in a room that is dimly lit with a candle in the middle of the table, a bottle of expensive wine and an expensive meal. Others, though, may see the perfect, romantic meal as a couple slices of pizza while watching a TV show and cuddling on the couch. Only you know what your significant other likes and considers to be romantic. Consider this information before making any attempts at being romantic.

Be selfless. Some of the most romantic gestures are those which divert all of your energy and exposure from you and to your significant other. Many times, an attempt at romance will not go as planned because you find yourself holding back for one reason or another. Instead, you should be willing to do things for your significant other without the thought of any kind of “reward.” Making that person happy is the only thing that should be on your mind. That in itself is romantic.

Surprise your significant other with romantic gifts and events. Many times, the fact that your significant other didn't know that he or she was receiving a gift is what makes it romantic. Bring home flowers on days throughout the year which aren't a birthday, anniversary or Valentine's Day. Make your spouse's favorite dinner and dessert on an unannounced, random day. Plan a getaway weekend and spring it on your significant other at the last minute. When your loved one isn't expecting anything special, your romantic gift or event will mean even more.

Pamper your loved one from time to time. It's always nice to offer to give a massage when your significant other is feeling stressed or ill. However, doing so on a random Tuesday night is just as special. Many people don't realize just how romantic a foot rub during a reality TV show can actually be. It's all about being in tune with that person's needs. Doing so makes any gesture a more romantic one.

Remember the little things. Cooking a dinner is a nice gesture. Putting on a CD with soft, romantic music makes the event special. Staying in and watching a movie with your wife while the two of you lay on the couch together is a good way to spend the evening. Putting on a romantic movie while you rub her feet with lotion makes the entire evening a romantic one. Think everything out before you make your attempt to be romantic. If you have to, write some notes down so that you won't forget everything. As cliché as it may be to say, it truly is the little things that makes a gift, event or gesture all the more romantic.
