Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Shopping in bulk for general items may cost a bit more initially but over a term will save you greatly on food and household supplies.
Stores such as Costco offer name and quality store brands in quantity. A mere few shopping trips will compensate for the yearly membership fee. Additional benefits include savings on gasoline as many of these chains have fuel stations on their lot.
Step2
Many stores offer double and some even triple coupon savings. Clip these from the newspaper and consider them money in your pocketbook.
Step3
Pot meals have always been common place for large families. Couples and individuals can prepare these larger portion pot recipes and have dinner for a few days to a week.
If you can't seem to eat the same thing repetitively, freeze meal size portions and enjoy them at a later date.
Step4
Meals away from home can be expensive. If you are eating out, opt for lunch time vs. dinner visits. Lunch menus are generally more affordable.
Don't forget to save coupons for your favorite restaurants.

on 5/30/2008 Thanks for the advice. I was also thinking if you are single or a couple, you can have dinner parties where everyone makes a meal one night a week, doing this 2-3 times a week would help!

on 5/30/2008 Good, solid advice. I've found that crockpot meals work well -- though I admit you can't do them seven nights a week. Good work. John R. Ingrisano
