Things You'll Need:
- time
- patience
- good content rich articles
- some eHow friends
-
Step 1
Your first step is to sit down and think of 20 to 30 things you can write about. Don't worry about actually writing the article just come up with the titles. You can either write these down on paper or you can type the title on the "Write An Article" page and just enter "dfnj" in the areas that are required (you can go back and change this later) and then save it as a draft. I like this way because I don't have to go searching for my list. Be sure your titles are simple. The title should be something someone would type in if they where searching for your article. For example, "How to Afford the High Costs of Prescription Medication" would be easier found typed "How to save money on Prescriptions".
-
Step 2
Once you have your list, start writing. Make a goal for yourself like 1 article per day or week. Keep your introduction to a short 2 sentences. Search engines don't like them if they are too long. You want to put as many pictures and/or videos on your article as possible as this will increase your eHow earnings. Once you have written an article you want to "Digg" it. This is done by clicking the little "digg" icon at the top of your article (under the "share" area and signing up for a digg account. Then you want to submit your article to search engines. I recommend the following free sites (links in resource section below): MSN, Submit Express, Yahoo, Scrub the Web, and She Told Me. You submit your site by viewing your article then copying the address in the browser address bar at the top of your screen. You then go to each website I have listed, click in the area that says "type url here". If "http://" is already in the space, erase it. Then right click in the space and select "paste". Doing this should have deposited the link to your article.
-
Step 3
Take advantage of listing your article in the maximum number of areas (5). Also in the "add a resource" section add a link to your profile which will show all your articles and/or a link to another one of your articles.
-
Step 4
Having more friends increases your eHow earnings. After you have written about 5 articles you want to search eHow for friends. You can do this by clicking on articles you want to read then if you like what you read click the "Be Friends" link on the right side under the authors name or select "Community" on the dark blue navigation bar above then select "members" and this will show all the newest members(don't forget to rate their article, digg it (in the "share" area above), and leave a comment). You can also search for specific kinds of friends like people who like dogs for example. You do this by going to the top of the eHow screen where the search box is, you change it from "how to articles" to "members" then type "like dogs" in the search box. I suggest reading a couple of their articles to make sure you want to be friends. Once you know you want to be friends click the "Add To Friends" button, another box will pop up saying "send a friend request to xxx?", select "yes" the pop up box will then disappear if it doesn't and says "404" there was an error and you need to close the box and try it again. It will normally always work on the 2nd try. Aim for 100+ friends.
-
Step 5
The use of keywords in your articles increases your eHow earnings. Choose keywords that repeat them several times in each step and in the introduction of your article. Use keyword tools such as Wordtracker to help you find the best keywords to use in your article. You will know you have done this correctly if you view your article and there are ads on the sides of your article that relate to your topic.
-
Step 6
Ratings, diggs and comments increase your eHow earnings. When you friend someone they will read your articles, comment on them, digg it, and give you a rating. When someone comments and leaves positive comments it increases your earnings. You want to regularly check your friends articles to see if they have any new articles that you haven't read. You friended them for a reason so you will like reading and commenting on their new articles. Also don't forget to rate the comments people have made on your articles by clicking on 1 of the 5 stars. When you are rating someone's article make sure the stars turn blue. Sometimes the page hasn't finished refreshing and the rating won't be registered unless the stars turn from gold to blue.
-
Step 7
Make your voice heard and seen in the eHow forums. This will draw attention to you and your articles and this will increase your eHow earnings.
-
Step 8
I'm an AvatarMaking a killer profile will increase your eHow earnings. Take some time to add information about yourself to your profile. This makes you more trustworthy and "real". Add a real picture to your profile instead of using a generic avatar (a computer user's representation of himself or herself, usually a computer generated picture). Add your personal website or blogger site.
-
Step 9
You ask, "So how does eHow make money?". Ehow makes money by people clicking on the ads that are embedded in your articles (these are words underlined twice in green) and the ads that are on the sides of your articles. So if you see something interesting then by all means click on it but don't do this on your own articles just because as this could be considered "click fraud"(because your earnings increase with the number of clicks received from your article page).
-
Step 10
http://answers.yahoo.com/Lastly, use the internet to bring attention to your articles, word of mouth increases your ability to make more money on eHow. For example, I wrote an article on saving money on groceries. I then went to Yahoo Answers and searched open questions for "save money on groceries" several questions popped up with questions asking how others were saving money on groceries during these hard times. I answered the questions and inserted my article link so they could read about how I was saving money. You can also blog about your articles. Also try writing your articles on http://thisisby.us/ or linking your thisisby articles to your eHow articles. Or if a lot of your articles are gardening related you can join http://my.gardenguides.com/profiles/signin.aspx and link to your eHow articles.
*****WARNING******You have to make sure that you are not spamming the questions. The link has to have something to do with the question you are answering. Don't just enter your link try adding a little to it so that your answer will not get blocked by Answers.com

on 11/10/2009 Good advice but the real ticket is writing articles that draw in the most traffic or writing about content that is timely and high pay per click keywords.
