How to pet a dog

This is about how to pet a dog safely.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• a dog
• the owners permission

1. First check with the owner to make sure you have their permission to pet their dog, and make sure the dog is safe to pet.

2. Next, slowly extend your hand sideways, palm facing you towards the dog.

3. Make sure you let the dog sniff you then slowly scratch him under the gruff of the neck.

4. Then completing this slowly lift your hand over its head (it will be watching your alertly!) and pet its head. Your are now free to pet the dog anywhere, completing the "getting-to-know" part.

Tips & Warnings

• BE VERY SLOW NO SUDDEN MOVEMENTS OR THE DOG WILL BECOME SCARED!!!
